NJ in the snow… Banker came down from NH, we made it to the cabin in SC.
From there, the fun begin…
Snow in South Carolina at the cabin and in the hills and cold.
Route: The 1st 70 miles- Greer, SC to Greenwood, SC on State Road 25
Out of Greenwood, we picked up State Road 221 through Sumter National Forest;
and on across the Savannah River into Georgia, bypassing Augusta, GA.
Greenwood, SC on SR221 to Wrens, GA, picking up SR1; about 80 miles
On the road, stopping for lunch.
Amish run roadhouse, good food.
Across the street was a gourd farm where they make bird houses out of the gourds.
Route 1 all the way to Jacksonville, FL
From about Baxley, GA down it’s a 4 lane – 65mph
At the Compound, about 475 miles later

As more pieces come off the bike, the unwashed settle in with popcorn for the duration.

The wire from the starter to the maxi fuse pulled away from the
connector on the starter. Kills everything, like the fuse is blown.
That's where we started. This was on the road, so it was a lot of just
moving wires to see if we could get it back on the road. Jinks noticed
when you push the bracket that holds the ECM towards the front of the
bike, the connection would be made, and all the electrics would start
up. So, he wedged a stick in there, and it worked to get Banker back to
the Compound.
After tearing into it, taking off the seat, taking out the battery,
checking the starter wires for tightness, etc... Gary ohmed from the
starter to where the wire goes into the bottom of the maxi fuse. Nada.
Pulled the nut off the starter, pulled the wire back into the battery
bay, and it came out in two pieces. Gary had a somewhat smaller
connecter, put the wires back together, crimped it, and put it all back
together. Voila! Power... electricity.
Off hand, I'd say it was a bad crimp at the factory. The wires were not
all neatly tucked into the connector. Must have been a Monday or Friday
build.

minutes ago, decided to slab it and get
here before Pauline so I could help her unpack the car.
Gary & Linda, I know you always say we bring the party,,, but if it
wasn't for you two, there'd be no Daytona Bikeweek.
We do appreciate all that you do for us, including putting up with
Banker's old jokes.
Had a tailwind heading up I-95 with lots o'traffic doing 85+, got 190
miles outta the first tank of gas before the idiot light went on.
Had a huge headwind when I hit I-26 so I didn't do so well heading
north-west...
Butt it's all fun...
