Agua & Diane’s Run To The Alps:
Alps Run Lodging Summary/Guide
All Notes, Comments, Maps, Directions are from Allen… I’m just puttin’ up here.
Notes:
1. I've done a few translations from German to English in regards to the elevation profile
info on the overview map. Refer back to this first overview map if you can't remember the
German words on the overview maps for the following days.
2. The numbers in the Elevation profile graph correspond with the waypoint numbers on the
map on the right side of the overview.
3. The blue bar above the elevation data has the estimated amount of time to ride the route
without stops and also the total distance of the route in kilometers.
4. All maps are best viewed in "Original size" <click on any picture to enlarge>

Stopped in this Swiss Harley-Davidson dealer,,, just at 12:15, which means nothing’s gonna get done until around 2:00pm.

Len checking out the skis. - Kathy, Diane, R.E. shopping in downtown Andermatt.
(Quote from R.E.: And R.E. shopping? Since I don't do shopping, a more accurate description would be R.E. and Diane helping Kathy select a pornographic post card.)

Day 08 – Day trip from Dobbiaco
497 Km - 310 miles
- Possible Day 08 day trip - notes-
The day trip starts and stops in Dobbiaco, Italy which is marked on the map by the red flag.
Follow the numbers on the blue flags to follow the route.
Waypoint 11 is a dead end that runs up to a high alpine lake.
Day 9's route from Dobbiaco to Garmisch will, in part, runs on a direct line from Waypoint 1
to 3, so I avoided it for Day 8's day trip.
Pictures of sights along the route can be seen by going here:
<http://www.grossglockner.at/fileadmin/user_upload/motorradhimmel.pdf>
and scrolling down to the Tour 2 and Tour 3 sections.
As mapped, the route runs 497 kilometers or 308 miles. It would be a long day in the saddle to ride it all.
However, if need be, the route can be shortened in many ways. Dropping the dead-end run up to Waypoint 11.
Swapping the 16, 17, 18, 19 loop back on the return into Dobbiaco for a direct shot between 3 and 1.
Swapping the 1,2,3 loop around the south side of the Lienzer Dolomiten for a direct 1-3 shot.
Should you want to see the route in more detail, go here:
<http://www.uk.map24.com/>
and put Dobbiaco, Italy into the search address city and country. Then just follow along using the map posted here for reference.
Don't forget to click the "maximize applet" button on the far right side of the map toolbar to see the map full screen.

Pic & story from R.E.
“Background: We and the Lanters were gonna take a train excursion and opted (at the Noggins' encouragement)
to head to Cologne. Until we found out that it wuz gonna cost each couple 212Euors (or 400+ first class). For a
relatively short ride. So the attached was the result. <g>
